dr martens colours Elvis to sing for ACTO
VALDOSTA Alzheimer’s Caregiver Time Out is holding its Sixth Annual “Elvis is in the Building” Feb. 24 at Mathis Auditorium.
ACTO is a respite care service for people suffering with any type of dementia or Alzheimer’s. ACTO serves its clients a light breakfast and a hot well balanced lunch every day, according to the organization. Throughout the day, there are activities, crafts, music and light exercises.
Austin Irby will pay tribute to the king of rock n roll throughout the night by performing songs from the king’s career,
said Ann Walker Smith with ACTO.
Alongside Irby, Bonita Bailey will perform a tribute to Diana Ross, and Cole Tucker will perform a ventriloquist act. There will also be a silent auction of cakes, candies and raffles.
The funds raised from ticket sales and the silent auction will go to ACTO to help the non profit expand its services.
“My goal when I came in seven years ago was to find (ACTO) a permanent home, add a third employee and open an extra day,
” Walker Smith said.
ACTO has a permanent home and has three paid staff members. Walker Smith is now trying to open the center for a fourth day every week.
