>> WE NOT GOING TO HEAL ALLTHE WAY UNTIL WE KNOW WHO KNEWWHAT WHEN.
The 54 year old pleaded guilty to seven counts of criminal sexual conduct and admitted to using his position as a doctor to assault and molest girls under the guise of medical treatment.
Nassar apologized after hearing 156 of his victims recount their abuse.
“I will carry your words with me for the rest of my days,” Nassar said in court.
“This is somebody who was in a position of trust,” said Michael McCann, associate dean for academic affairs at the University School of Law and sports law specialist, adding the complete tally of victims may never be known.
Nassar also worked for Michigan State University. Many of his victims blame the university for mishandling past complaints.
There is a civil suit already filed against the school and USA Gymnastics.
“As a result, they may have institutional liability for failing to detect his wrongdoing, and moreover, failing to take action against him, really just preventing him from committing crimes against children,” McCann said.
“We’re not going to heal all the way until we know who knew what, when,” another victim said.
On Wednesday evening, Michigan State President Lou Anna Simon announced that she is resigning. In a letter posted on the school’s website, she called the survivors’ accounts horrific, tragic and heartbreaking.
