The DA Office is not filing charges against state troopers involved in a shooting. Ron Hilliard was standing by live in Summit Township from the scene where that shooting occurred on Dorn Road.
The exchange of gunfire happened around the garage of the property. Pennsylvania State Police from Franklin and the Erie County District Attorney Office investigated the case, resulting in today announcement.
The decision today by Erie County District Attorney Jack Daneri was that the use of deadly force was justified concerning the incident that happened last month in Summit Township. On January 7th,
five troopers arrived at the home of Anthony Lacastro in the 2300 block of Dorn Road after his wife called 9 1 1. She reportedly told the dispatcher that Lacastro was armed and had fired a gun.
According to the District Attorney Office, troopers arrived and identified themselves and gave verbal commands for Lacastro to drop his weapons,
but instead, according to that statement,
Lacastro fired his AR 15 in the direction of the officers. Three of them returned fire and Lacastro was hit once.
The 71 year old man was hospitalized and charged with five counts of attempted homicide. Lacastro was the only person injured during the exchange. He now remains in Erie County Prison without bond.
