Hilary Coughlin thinks about safety on her own campus of the University of Evansville. Thursday night in the Armory parking lot around 9:40 police say a white male tried to force a female student into his car. Hilary Coughlin says, “I think it really scary especially since I park out here a lot like I just get scared a lot because it seems to happen a lot on college campuses.”EPD Officer Steve Green says, fighting back, the female victim got away, “She struggled with him. She was able to kick him in the shins and punch him in his face and ran off.” This isn the first call campus security has received like this. In January a female student was attacked on Frederick Avenue. She also fought back and fled.Police aren connecting the two incidents, but Ryan Thompson says it concerns him, even though he doesn attend UE, “That kind of worries me as my girlfriend is going here what if she was in the same situation.”UE officials are asking students to look out for a white male 22 25 years old. He has a dark goatee and a southern accent. The suspect was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, jeans and white tennis shoes.Police are also looking for a dark green newer model Pontiac Grand Am or Grand Prix with tinted windows. Coughlin says you can walk around in fear, but you can be aware, “I feel safe considering we have security vehicles that drive around, but stuff just happens no matter what you do.”UE offers an escort service on campus at any time.
