dr martens 1460 Marston announces candidacy for Sheriff

My name is Chris Marston and I am running for the office of Washington County Sheriff. I believe that a law enforcement agency is only as good as its relationship with the community. There must be an unbreakable bond of trust and respect that we all must adhere to. I will lead our sheriff’s office with honor and integrity.

A little about myself, I was born and raised in Colorado. I grew up in the mountain town of Bailey and later moved to Golden, where I graduated from Golden High School. After high school, I went to the University of Colorado, Boulder and later worked as a customer service representative for a large company. In 2004, I graduated from the Law Enforcement Training Academy at Red Rocks Community College. After the academy, I worked for the Brush Correctional Facility as a correctional officer. During my time there, I was promoted to sergeant. I then went to Logan County Sheriff’s Office as a detention deputy. I next worked security for the Fortune Valley Casino, before working as a patrol deputy for the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office in Walden. In December 2009, I was hired by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office as a patrol deputy. I remained in that position until May 2014. I currently work for Washington Yuma Combined Communications as a dispatcher.

We have two young daughters. We cannot imagine raising them in a better county.

Many citizens have expressed concerns about the current administration. I am committed to treating the people of Washington County with honesty, integrity, and respect. I am committed to continued investment in higher levels of community engagement with the sheriff’s office. It is important for me to understand and know what you the citizens expect, need and want from me. From there, we will set goals and meet them together. It is imperative as law enforcement officers we have a greater presence in our community in its entirety. Being well rounded, fair, consistent and communication with you is the key to this.

If elected, I will be a hands on working Sheriff who will patrol and answer calls. I will lead our Sheriff’s Office with professionalism, an open mind, and humility. I look forward to meeting you, the citizens of Washington County, and speaking with you about ways to improve the sheriff’s office.
