doc martens style boots Lawyer Jeff Brace Sentenced to 75 Days in Jail for Impaired Driving
St. John lawyer Jeff Brace has been sentenced to 75 days in prison for drunk driving.
Jeff Brace stood in court and told the judge he was sorry for his stupidity. He said he was careless and reckless.
“I thought I had this licked.” Brace discussing his addictions with alcohol. Brace is emotional on the stand. Speaking slowly. Following that, he says he knew he needed to change. He went to counselling, stopped drinking, and says he felt in control.
Brace says when an issue came up at home involving his daughter, he was terrified. He wouldn discuss details,
but did say he made the mistake of thinking he was fine to have a few drinks.
Brace admits he was intoxicated that morning in September, 2016, when he was arrested for drunk driving. He told the judge he hadn stopped drinking from the night before, when he put the keys into his motorcycle. This is his third conviction.
Brace was sentenced to serve 75 days in jail and one year probation, and is banned from driving for three years.
Crown Prosecutor Adam Sparkes says Brace was sentenced the same as anyone else before the court,
despite being a high profile member of the Law Society.
